Approximately ten years ago, I began having problems with my shoulders which forced me to stop using my favorite climbing deer stand and start using lock-on deer stands instead. After hanging several lock-on stands on trees, I came to realize this is a very difficult task. I searched to the end of the internet trying to find something to remedy the difficulty of this task but I came up empty handed. I knew I was going to have to design something myself in order to keep hunting. I had the idea that an arm with a pulley on it that stood out away from a tree would aid in the placement of the stand. I experimented for several years with different designs, trying to get the design just right. Once I had the idea just right, I collaborated with a friend to make the prototype. I tested the prototype for several years in actual hunting situations and after determining the product was safe and effective, I began the patent process. Two years later, I received the patent on the Hunters Hanger Hoist, or as I like to refer to it, the H3.
The H3 safely transports a lock-on deer stand from the ground to the desired location in the tree where it is to be attached. Instead of having to climb up a tree while carrying the stand, the hunter is able to climb up carrying only a very light-weight hoist. It makes hanging a deer stand safer and easier. It may save lives and lessen the number of hunting accidents. The extension arm of the H3 makes it possible to also attach an unloaded gun or bow while on the ground and once the hunter has climbed up the tree and attached the hoist, the gun or bow can then safely be pulled up to the hunter.
